COLOUR CURE
Coueism Cult in New Phase
MENTAL DISORDERS
Cuueism, the cult of auto-suggestion and self-confidence that was inaugurated some years ago by the little drug store iseeper of Nancy, Emil Coue, is to branch out into a universal science of mind healing and psychiatry, says an exchange. Various colours are to be utilised for the curing of mental diseases.
A bowl of oranges, for instance, placed in the centre o£ a room, is guaranteed to kid backward children and adults of an unbalanced rniud.
Campaigrr in Britain
Kleptomaniacs, who know themselves to be such, will find solace and riddance from their peculiar character trait in gazing each day for a few hours upon a white tablecloth. This will bring a cure within two months’ time, according to the disciples of Emil Coue. Professor Henri Passeh, friend of the late Nancy apothecary and one of his most devoted followers, has placed himself at the head of the movement. Professor Passeh has succeeded in having the new methods studied at the Universities of Heidelberg and Berlin, where tney carried off the approbation of several eminent psychologists. London also seems to have grown enthusiastic over the new develop ments in Coueism. An advertising campaign teward which already £50,000 has been contributed, is to be launched in the British Isles, with lectures by distinguished doctors and social workers, a mass meeting in Albert Hali and the recruiting of thou sands of new adepts as the set goal. While the Coueists hope to bring into line no less than a million new believers in Great Britaiu, Germany already boasts five millions, who practise and repeat the old formula, “Every day in every way I am getting better and better,” that was Emil Coue’s avowed cure for all evil, material and physical.
Rosary of Gold
Parisian Coueists, of whom there are many thousands among the fashionable classes, have lately introduced a sort of rosary, of gold, silver and platinum. By shifting the jewelled beads the believers in the magic formula can keep track of the number of their repetitions. The new course is to be launched simultaneously in the seven countries where Coueism has hitherto gained its strongest adherents. The countries are Germany, France, Holland. Belgium, Denmark, Britain and Finland. The new works that have appeared on the subject are to be translated into the various languages of these countries, and Professor Passeh is to conduct the lecture tours. If all goes well—and the Coueists have no doubt upon this subject— America will be invaded by a host c£ eminent Coueists next fall. Professor Passeh figures that the United States, in which country Lie “master” had such remarkable success, will ultimately prove to be the most fertile ground for the spreading and blossoming of the new cult.
