LICENSING COMMITTEE

Sir, — The electors soon will have another opportunity of appointing a licensing committee, and it is to be hoped that they will show more interest in this important matter than they have done in previous years. We require men on this committee who represent the public and whose concern will be the interests of the public. At the last election one of the candidates frankly and fearlessly expressed his views concerning the granting of a licence to the Ambassadors’ Hotel. I earnestly hope that such candidates as are prepared to put the community’s interests before those of the Trade will come forward again, and that the public will be less apathetic and go to the poll in larger numbers to insist that it be adequately represented. ONE OF THE PUBLIC.
