Mrs. W. H. Parkes, of “Marinoto," Symonds Street, returned to Iter home yesterday after visiting her daughter, Mrs. P. J. McClatchie, in Wellington. Eady Liverpool will arrive in Auckland on Saturday from Rotorua, and will be the guest of their Excellencies at Government House until March 12, when she will leave with Lord Liverpool by the Aorangi for England. TENNIS DANCE A very gay evening was spent in the Palais Theatre, Northcote, last night, when the combined local tennis, bowling and croquet clubs held a flannel dance to wind up their recent Paddy’s market. Great bowls of glorious hydrangea blooms and potted shrubs and ferns were banked against the stage from which Mr. Clyde Howley’s famous Internationals dispensed the newest and brightest dance numbers in their own inimitable style. St. John's Girls’ Club, Te Awamutu, held its annual meeting on Monday. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. R. H. Trill; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. Atkev, Mrs. Teasdale and Miss Iv. VISITORS HONOURED AT BRIDGE PARTY Mrs. P. Webster -was the hostess at j her home in Herne Bay last evening: at i a bridge party arranged in honour of Mrs. Arnold Baxter and her daughter. Miss Xoeline Baxter, of Wellington, | who are spending a holiday here. To I receive her guests in the flower-decor- ! ated lounge, Mrs. Webster wore an at- I tractive gown of heavy macrame lace ! in a deep blue shade, with relief of j rhinestone embroidery at the waistline. Mrs. Baxter’s frock of black georgette and mechlin lace was brightened with a vivid shoulder flower. Miss Xoeline Baxter wore a dainty gown of flower-sprigged chartreuse green and rose taffeta. GARDENING CIRCLE OF LYCEUM CLUB MEETS Yesterday the members of the Lyceum Club gardening circle spent an interesting afternoon at Titirangi, where they were entertained by Mrs. Harry Atkinson at tea, following a walk in the bush. The convener of the circle, Mrs. J. W. Tattersfield, was with the members. and they were also accompanied by Miss Marguerite Cook, who made the ramble more enjoyable by pointing out many things of interest in bush life.
