SHORE A LEADS
KEEN SENIOR B TUSSLE North Shore A continued its series of unbroken wins in the senior B competition on Saturday by defeating Papatoetoe on the first innings. This match was the final of the first round, and Shore is now leading Papatoetoe by three points. When the first Papatoetoe wicket fell for 42, the position did not look so bad. However, the next eight wickets put on only 66 runs all told, so that with nine down for 108 Papatoetoe did not seeifl to have a ghost of a chance. A final wicket stand between Burnside and A. Swaflield looked very promising till Burnside hit one on to his pads and it just rolled on to the wicket with the total at 157. The chief factor in the defeat of Papatoetoe was the steady bowling of Harper, who bowled 19 overs for three wickets and 32 runs. Reid also bowled well, getting three for 36, and Nicholas, whose express deliveries kept bumping round tho batsmen’s heads, got three for 52. Best scores were obtained by Rankin 43, Burnside 28, and A. Swaflield 21, not out. Papatoetoe followed on, and at time had five wickets down for 123, chiefly contributed by Winks 37 and H. Swaffield 41.
