SCHOOL BOOKS DELAYED

DELIVERY VERY SOON STATEMENT BY MINISTER Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. In a statement to-day, the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atmore, deals lengthily with the question of the late delivery of books for the new school syllabus, setting forth reasons and stating what difficulties have been overcome. All books on arithmetic are now on sale. English text-books, Standards 111 to V, are ready, and Standard VI will be issued in a few days. History, Standards 111 to V, are on sale, and supplies for Standard VI will be sent out in a day or two. The greatest difficulty has been found in producing geographies, but he understands that books for Standard 111 are on sale and those for Standards IV, V and VI are in the press. The Miinster also states the public is getting more for its money than was provided in the old books.
