SYMPATHETIC HEARING

ROSKILL DEPUTATION TO TRANSPORT BOARD BETTER BUS SERVICES WANTED In reporting to the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening the result of tin interview with the Transport Board, the chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, said that he and Mr. G. E. Tansley had met with a very cordial reception. They had urged upon the Transport Board the necessity for better services in Dominion Road, Buckland Road and Waikowhai, the residents of which districts were being penalised by unsatisfactory transport. The deputation suggested that if the Transport Board found it impossible to improve the services on these routes, it should permit private buses to run the whole distance between the different termini and the city until such time as the board was able to take them over. Mr. Jones also complimented the Transport Board on its decision to submit to the ratepayers a loan covering the whole of the metropolitan area, and in view of the apathy shown on the recent Power Board loan,he suggested the calling of public meetings and the creation of public interest by addresses by members of the Transport Board and local bodies, with a view to carrying the major proposal. Mr. Jones expressed the conviction that these proposals would meet with the approval of the Transport Board which, he said, had some extremely hard work ahead of it.
