INJURED RING FINGER

BUTTERMAKER CLAIMS £3ll SEQUEL TO COLLISION (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, To-day. A claim for £3ll 3s damages to the ring finger of his right hand was brought in the Supreme Court to-day by Leslie Alostyn Fowler, buttermaker, Frankton, against Henry Angus Munro, farmer, Kiwitahi. The statement of claim set out that on September 24, 1928, plaintiff was driving a motor-cycle along the Waha-roa-Hamilton Road toward Hamilton, when he collided with a motor-lorry owned by defendant and driven by Joseph William Marsh. Plaintiff alleged that Alarsh drove the lorry in a negligent and dangerous manner, in that he failed to have the vehicle properly lighted, and failed to keep a vigilant lookout. As a result of the collision, plaintiff suffered a compound fracture of the ring finger of his right hand. Plaintiff said he was in the hospital four or five days, and then became an outpatient. He still suffered physical pain, and in cold weather partially lost the gripping power of his hand. This was detrimental to him in his work. He added he had been getting full wages ever since. Medical evidence was to the effect that the injury would continue to improve for 12 months. It might be necessary to amputate it at the end of that time. The jury awarded plaintiff £ 198 3s.
