SINISTER STRIKE MOVE

PUNTS’ MOORINGS CUT MENACE TO SHIPPING SYDNEY, Tuesday. There was a sinister development of the timber workers’ strike to-day. It was discovered that the mooring lines of six timber-laden punts at Balmain had been severed. Three of the punts drifted into the fairway of the Parramatta River, where they formed a menace to ferry and other steamers. The other three punts were held back by additional steel hawsers under the water, which the sabotagers had missed. The incident occurred at the wharves of Empire Timber. Limited. Two watchmen were employed, but the perpetrators of the act eluded them.
