“BABY CRICKET”

SCENES ON SATURDAY LONDON PAPER’S REBUKE LONDON, Monday. Commenting on the scenes at Melbourne on Saturday in the cricket match England v. Victoria, the “Daily News,” in an article under the heading “Baby Cricket,” says: The English team will not be unduly disturbed by the illogical antics of a section of the crowd. The reason for their barracking was so childish that it removes all the sting from its effects. A protest agafnst a fast bowler dismissing a “rabbit” is scarcely credible in a children’s cricket match on the sands. Larwood would have done well to have tossed Ironmonger a lob, and so have restored the crowd’s sense of humour which so unaccountably it had mislaid. SHEFFIELD SHIELD ANDREWS BOWLS WELL SYDNEY, Monday. In the Sheffield Shield cricket match South Australia v. New South Wales, the former, in its first innings made 280 (Grimmett, 43). Hooker took three wickets for 73. T. Andrews four for 34, Morris two for 27. New South Wales in its second venture made 262 for four wickets (Bradman not out 125, Fairfax. 41, Jackson 38). The bowling of Andrews was described as the feature of the match. He completely tricked the batsmen.
