WAIKATO FLOODING
CONSERVATION BOARD ! PROPOSED DAMAGE BY SILTING Press Association HAMILTON, To-day. A conference was held in Hamilton to-day to discuss the silting and flooding of the Waikato River. Representatives were present from a wide area. The meeting resolved unanimously to recommend the appointment of the Waikato Conservation Board. Mr. W. Leo Martin, M.P., said he hoped to arrange a tour of inspection i of the river and district by the Minis- | ter of Public Works and members of Parliament, commencing about March j 18. I Statements at the meeting alleged that silting had greatly increased and considerable areas of farm land were uiseless through the frequent flooding. The railway, as well as the road, will have to be raised, if the silting continues unchecked.
