BOY STUNS 11-FOOT SHARK WITH AXE
PRIMITIVE FISHING GEAR (Special to THE SUN) ■WHANGAR.OA, Monday. Expensive rods and reels, and fast motor-launches, play no part in the fishing equipment of Jim Sanderson, a 13-years-old boy. When he goes after the big game fish, he uses primitive but very effective gear. Armed with an axe and a ploughline, and seated in a leaky old punt, he set out to emulate Zane Grey. When in very shallow water, he got a surprise when a reremaid shark over II feet long rose under his cranky craft, and nearly capsized him. Nothing daunted, however, he promptly swung his trusty axe, and hit the shark on the head. The blow stunned it, and before it recovered lie lashed his plough-line round its tali and towed it ashore.
