JUSTICE AT LAST
DISMISSED POLICEMAN £1,500 COMPENSATION GIVEN (Australian and 2V.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 11.13 a.m. LONDON, Monday. Replying to Mr. J. H. Hayes (Labour), Sir William Joynson-Hicks. Home Secretary, announced in the House of Commons that, exSergeant Josling received £1,500 compensation, in addition to the records being amended to show that he voluntarily resigned from the police force without reflection on his character. On behalf of the House, he wished him success in his present career. (Cheers.) Mr. Josling was dismissed from the force on the false evidence of exSergeant Goddard. Mr. Josling, in an interview, said he was immensely satisfied. “My vindication is my greatest joy. I am not so much concerned with the compensation. I shall return to my small Shropshire school, and I hope the matter will now be forgotten.' 1
