N.S.W. MINES MENACED

SAFETY MEN MAY GO THREAT TO THE OWNERS SYDNEY, Sunday. Now that the notices to the miners in the northern coalfield are operating, the militant minority among the men is expected to procure the withdrawal of the safety men from the workings. The Communists are of the opinion that they must force the owners’ hands by letting them see that the mines will go to ruin, unless they make terms. Trades Union opinion generally, how - ever, does not favour such a step, and the central governing authority threatens to deal with unauthorised organisations, such as the Councils of Action. Measures are being taken for the welfare of the 10,000 miners who have received notice.
