PERSONAL. —The Kairanga lias been recommissioned at Port Chalmers with the following engineers:—Chief, Mr. E. Vv . Mack ley; second, Mr. A. Crumbley; third, Mr. A. G. Weld. Mr. J. E. Hamer has joined the Kaikorai as chief engineer after holiday leave. Mr. C. C. Cleary has joined the Waipiaata as second engineer in place of Mr. D. McMurran, who has transferred to the Kaituna. Mr. v. Boivin has joined the Maori as third engineer after being ashore on extended leave. REMUERA LEAVES COLON. —Cabled News has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that its liner Remuera left Colon last Wednesday for Southampton and London, en route from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on February 6. THE CANADIAN CONQUEROR. —The Canadian Conqueror will not leave Bluff until this afternoon for Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due there on Wednesday to load for New York, Boston and Montreal, and will sail on Thursday for Auckland. The vessel is now timed to sail finally from Auckland on March THE PORT PI R lE.— The C. and D Line steamer Port Pirie arrived at Lyttelton at 10.30 a.m. on Friday from Picton to continue loading. She will leave Lyttelton to-night for Wellington, is due there to-morrow morning, and will sail on Wednesday for Auckland. The vessel is to get away from Auckland on March 13 for London, via Panama. ZEALANDIC REPORT. —A wireless message was received yesterday by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company from the Zealandic, en route from Falmouth, stating that she will arrive at Bluff tomorrow morning. Th*s vessel will commence loading at Bluff for London. Captain J. H. Gaskeil retains command of the Zealandic. INKUM WITH HARDWOODS. —An arrival in the stream at Auckland this morning was the Guif Transport steamer Inkum from Bunbury with a cargo of hardwoods for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel was berthed at the Central Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo under the agency of Russell and Somers. The Inkum left Bunbury on February 13 and called at Newcastle for Bunkers. Fair weather was experienced until arrival at the coal port. Newcastle was left at 10.5 p.m. last Monday and across the Tasman Sea the vessel had easterly winds and seas with thick rain and mist. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel from here next Saturday. On completion of her discharge at Dunedin, the Inkum proceeds to Westport for bunkers, thence to Sydney for orders.
Captain J. T. Metham is in command of the Inkum and has the following officers with him: Chief, Mr. D. Anderson; second, Mr. E. Lightfoot; third, Mr. G. Scales; chief engineer, Mr. H. Bell; second, Mr. S. Robinson; third, Mr. H. Sims; fourth, Mr. J. L. Hussey; wireless operator, Mr. T. D. Gtonow; chief steward, Mr. R. F. Kavanagh. NEW MOTOR-SHIP BRITANNIC.— The new 27,000-ton motor-ship which Messrs. Harland and Wolff are building at Belfast for the White Star Line’s Liv-erpool-New Y"ork service is to be named Britannic. She will be the third ship of this famous fleet to hear the name. The first was built in 1874. and was a single screw steamer of 5,004 tons. The second was a ship of 48.158 tons, launched at Belfast early in 1914, and while serving as a hospital ship in the Mediterranean in 1916 was mined.
IN DIANOLA WITH SLAG.— An arrival in the stream at Auckland on Saturday evening was the Gulf Transport steamer Indianola from Antwerp with a cargo of basic slag for discharge at Auckland and New Plymouth. Yesterday morning the vessel was berthed at the King's Wharf. The Indianola was last at Auckland in February, 1928. On this voyage she sailed from Antwerp on January 8 and experienced generally fair weather for the trip.
Captain E. A. Alcide is in command and the following are the officers:— Chief. .Mr. W. H. Roberts; second, Mr. C. Higgins: third, Mr. G. Sykes; chief engineer, Mr. E. Ward; second, Mr. J. Sutherland, third, Mr. .T. M. Brown; fourth, Mr. W. Toner; wireless operator, Mr. J. McAleese; chief steward, Mr. A. Corish.
