DISPENSARY COMMITTEE MEETS The 26th annual report of the Auckland United Friendly Societies revealed a generally satisfactory position at last week’s meeting of the dispensary general committee. - Notwithstanding trade depression, the institution more than held its own as regards both service and finances. The year s working netted £570 11s 2d, only £o 13s lOd less than the previous year s profits. The reduction in cash sales affected the position little, owing to saving of interest and economies in overhead expenses. The members at the end of the year s’oo 5 ’ 004 ’ comprising 4,378 males, 196 widows, 373 sisters and 57 juveniles, an increase of 54. After having invested £4OO in the Savings Bank, and having paid £76 off the property mortgage, it was decided to absorb £252 14s in a per cent, dividend on present capital, this to be paid out of profit. The officers for 1929 are: President, Mr. J. T. Rutledge; vice-president, Mr’ F. Armiger; treasurer, Mr. H G Adams; secretary, Mr. W. H. McCombie; board of management, Messrs. J Wedgewood, H. B. Halstead, W. Kane S. Takle, E. L. Laing, H. T. White, r’. L. Gray, F. Flanagan and W. J, Scott; auditors, Messrs. S. Takle, P. Evans, H. T. White; trustees, Messrs. W Blomfield, R. C. Gray and W. Kane.
