CASH ORDER INQUIRY

OPENED IN WELLINGTON This morning, at Wellington, the inquiry into the cash order system was opened at Parliament Buildings, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, presiding. From Wellington, Mr. Cobbe goes to Christchurch and Dunedin and he will end investigation at Auckland. The investigation relates to the system under which cash orders are issued to clients by the cash order companies. These orders are able to be tendered to retail traders, who are reimbursed by the company which issued the cash order. The system is often confused with the entirely different question of cash-on-delivery.
