GUARDS HOME AGAIN

WELCOME FROM THE KING British Official Wireless RUGBY. Thursday. The first message to greet the 2nd Battalion of the Scots Guards on their arrival home from Shanghai was one from the King, who is Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment. His Majesty said: “As your Colonel-in-Chief, I wish to be the first to welcome you home. I rejoice to think you are once more with your families and friends.” In reply the battalion thanked the King for his gracious message and rejoiced at the prospect of his Majesty’s early return to good health.
