SIR JAMES PARR VISITS GLASGOW AS TRADE ENVOY FOR DOMINION
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Friday. Sir James Pari - , with the official New Zealand party, visited Glasgow in connection with the campaign to push New Zealand produce. They were given a luncheon by the Lord Provost, and were the guests of the Clyde Navigation Trust for a whole day in an inspection of the docks and shipyards. They saw the Rangitata being built at Brown’s yards, and had a conference with merchants on the matter of more frequent direct shipments. Sir James Parr, at the trust’s luncheon, made an appeal that New Zealand products should be given a trial on their merits. During a tour of the leading stores, the fact was emphasised that the chief obstacle was that most of the steamers made the first call at London. Consequently, the date of their arrival at Glasgow was uncertain.
