NORTHCOTE REGATTA
ENTRIES SHOW RECORD Record entries have been received for the Northcote and Birkenhead annual regatta, which takes place tomorrow* afternoon. The flagship will bo the ketch Mira* kindly placed at the disposal of the committee by Mr. C. E. Campbell. The vessel will be moored off the Northcote Wharf. All races will be started off the flagship on the three-flag system, the first event starting at 2.30.
The officials will be: — starters, Messrs. J. F. Fe&rnley, A. V. Tyer; judges, Messrs. G. K. Hutchinson, C. E. Campbell; timekeeper, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson; recorder, Mr. G. E. LaycocK.
Following are the courses, entries and handicaps:
A and B Class, to start at 2.2o.—Course: Start between Jtona buoy and flagship moored north, thence- round Resolution buoy on port hand, thence round white light buoy on starboard hand, thence round Resolution buoy on starboard hand, thence round mark boa t off Chelsea on starboard hand, finishing at startingline. Handicaps: Victory, scr; Ladye Wilma, 8m; Windward, 12m; Maliaki, 19m; Lady Sterling, 28m. C and E. Classes, to start at 2.35. — Course: Same as that for A and B classes. Handicaps: Wairiki, scr; Queenie lm; Scout, Delville, lona, sm; Owhanga, 13m; Naiad, 18m; Mahoe, 24in; Loloma, 26m; Katie, Dolphin, 30m. H Class, to start at 2.40. —Course: Same as that for keel yachts. Handicaps: Starlight, Starloch, Celox, scr; Spray, Awatere, sm; Why Not, 14m. L and N Classes, to start at 2.45. Course: Same as that, for keel yachts. Handicap: Rakoa, Valeria, scr; Marie, ini; Varuna, 21m; Otira Winifred, sm; Lovelight, Wairere, Mowai, 6m; Malua, 8m; Waima, 10m; Matariki, 12m; Wyoming, 13m. M Class, to start at 2.so.—Course: Start between Kona buoy and flagship moored north, thence round mark buoy off Western Tide Deflector on port hand, thence round outer Bays water beacon on port hand, thence round mark boat off Chelsea on starboard hand, twice round, finishing at starting line. Rona buoy counted as mark at start and finish only. Handicaps: Mawhiti, Matarere, Maroro, Marere, Maratea, Alain, all scr. V and S Classes, to start at 2.55. Course: Same as that for M class. Handicaps: Curley, scr; Mermin, lm; Welcome Jack, Zoe, 3m; Kereru, 3 a m; Joyce 101 m. Local Launches, to start at 3.15. Course: Start between Rona buoy and flagship moored north, thence round Devonport Sandspit Beacon, thence round Pile Beacon off Chelsea, finishing at starting line. All marks to be kept on port hand. Sealed handicaps. Entries; Ethel Rose, Bluebird. Outboard Motor-Boats.—The course and handicaps will be declared to-morrow. Boats are requested to report at the flagship at three o’clock. Miss Tamaki, Miss Kohi and post entries. Tauranga 7ft Class.—Post entries will be received at the flagship at three o’clock for this class. MANUKAU CRUISING CLUB Three championship yacht races will be held to-morrow by the Manukau Cruising Club over the No. 1 course. A handicap race for launches steered by a woman is also to be decided. The outboard championship has been postponed owing to the abwonce of many boats at Rangiriri and Northcote. Model yacht races will take place in # the basin. These events are very popular and the contestants generally number about 20. Following are the entries for the championship events: 16ft and under. Open Championship of the Manukau; flying start at 2.3o.—Sea Gnome. Nvria. 20ft and under; flying start at 2.45, in conjunction with the Champion Cup.—• Horse, Champagne, Miss Mac, Waiapu.
