Waikato Fixture

To-Morrow’s Attractive Card

Keen Contests Assured

The popular Cup fixture of the Waikato Trotting Club comes up for decision to-morrow on the up-to-date Claudelands course, when patrons are assured of an interesting and exciting day's sport. A review of the card by ‘‘Abaydos*’ is appended.

The acceptance card shows that there will be good fields in the various events and as the handicapper, Mr. C. 13. Gooseman, has brought the contestants well together, speculators will have plenty to think about in making their final selections. The quality of the fields is also good, and visitors to the Hamilton rendezvous can look forward with confidence to a great day’s sport. Improvers’ Handicap Fourteen remain in the opening event, the Improvers’ Handicap, with

the majority on the front. After her

pleasing performances at Epsom Tamahine will be in demand, while Great Way’s improved showing 1 on Wednesday will encourage his admirers to remain on his side. Black Magic is better than liis Auckland form suggests, and Garwood should have improved since last seen in public. Paradigm has not raced this season, but he is a solid sort when right, and if his number is not pulled off the board he will count many friends. Peter Brown can be labelled dangerous, and Bon Zolock is racing so consistently that he must be given a chance. Tamahine will be the elect, with support for Paradigm, but if he is absent Carwood will fill the bill. Progressive Handicap A big field of 19, with a dozen on tho front line, will claim attention in this heat. Moko Chief, if he goes right, should have a royal show, but Carmel may be a more solid proposition. Mountain Bell is an improving young pacer that is sure to be in the picture, and Gold Treasure is a possibility. Great Ballin may be in need of a race or two, but Zealous can be ticked off as a dangerous candidate. Single Mint won nicely at Ngaruawahia, and has probably improved since then. Gold Cast and Vanity Boy are of the solid type and the latter has raced consistently this year. Ilaercnga Pai is speedy but unreliable, and Regret can go fast. Limosa is a useful pacer, and has a later engagement. The favourites will probably be Carmel and Vanity Boy. Waikato Cup Fifteen is the main for the principal event of the day, and 'it should be a great race. Warplane and Medusa are a pair of young likely pacers on the front, but Wrackler should hold them safe, and the trotter Napland may find tho opposition too warm. Florent is one that cannot be overlooked, and he may bring about the downfall of tho favoured ones when it comes to the finish. Gold Bial is at the top of her form and will be a dangerous candidate, while Torpedo Muon, on his run at Epsom on Saturday; must be taken seriously. The distance will trouble Anselm, but Nelson Tasker is nicely placed and the Henderson horse looks like getting a share of the money. Goldman wants the sting out of the ground, but Lady Bunmore will make it interesting. Tho game, consistent Jean McElwyn will keep those in front of her busy, while those at the back will find it difficult to head her off. If Wrackler starts he promises to be favourite, but if scratched then Nelson Tasker and Torpedo Huon should share the honour. Members’ Handicap Eight good, sound, square-gaiters are down to contest this event, with half the field on the front peg. Bright Light, if at the meeting, will take a lot of beating, and while Etta Cole’s win on Wednesday will gain her a host of friends tho Taranaki horse will bo hard to head off. Anseline is in fine heart and will be going strongly at the end, and the trio may bo too solid for Koro Peter. Gold Sovereign is an improved trotter, and the consistent Peter McKinney cannot be overlooked, and if any of the front brigade make mistakes he will be handy. The Tartar is going much better in his races and will add a lot of interest to the event, and Mutu, after

his exhibition on Wednesday, will not bo friendless. Etta Cole promises to bo tho public choice, with Bright Light next, but if the latter is an absentee Peter McKinney will come in for warm support. Raglan Handicap Xino colour the card in this twomile heat, and it will provide an interesting struggle. Lady Barrington, ie she does it correctly, will be a tough proposition off the front, and Bad’s 1-lope can get the distance all right, but he does not always race generously. Rolfe Audubon is an unknown quantity at the journey, but he is a colt that looks like staying on, and he finished well on Wednesday at the end of a 12 -furlong go. Tiimosa is one that will make it decidedly interesting if brought North, and she will be one of the best fancied. Andover has shown staying qualities and if ready for the fight will bo knocking at the right end. Cornelian has yet to prove her worth at the distance, and Ilughie Wallace has not shown any of his old form for some time. Backers will want Rolphe Audubon and Limosa, but if the latter does not answer the roll call Andover will be next choice. Waipa Handicap Nine figure in this race, but Nella Dillon claims a later engagement in which sho would appear to hold brighter prospects. Tony Victor went solid races at Epsom and may improve on that showing to-morrow. Cornelian is speedy, but to date has not raced at all solidly, but Curfew Boy should be a possibility and if he moves out quickly will take a lot of stopping. Halgana is in good shape, but Medusa should hold her safe, and what beats the latter should win. Gold Dial went a good mile at the last Waikato fixture, and might repeat the performance, while Wrackler, if reserved for this go would give the rest a headache. If at tho meeting, the Cup will probably be his mission. Goldman does not appeal, so Medusa and Tony Victor may be the favoured ones. Dominion Handicap This is where the trotters mix it with the unhoppled pacers, and with seven of the former tackling four of tho latter the contest should be full of interest. Direct Action off the front will keep the opposition going, and Koro Peter, if he settles down will be a tough one to best. Trustworthy did not run on Wednesday as if she would see the two miles out, but the race might have sharpened her up. Wild Nut is a solid battler, but Anseline is pretty close to the front lot and she may finish in front of the lot. Bright Bight, if a starter, will have a lot of support. Bell Dial is a fine pacer without the straps, and her splendid victory at Claudelands three months ago will not be forgotten. Child© Audubon, if ready, will be a nuisance, and The Tartar will be going well over the final stages. Bell Dial and Anseline may attract most attention. Farewell Handicap Fourteen colour the card for the final event- of the day, and backers have plenty of choice in going for a recovery. Gold Cast is well placed on the end and the old chap cannot be overlooked. Regret is a speedy customer and, being a splendid beginner, will claim a lot of attention. Nella Dillon is another which goes out quick, and she must be given u. good chance. Mountain Dell will find the

•urney to her liking, and Marionet threatening to catch a stake. lint

wall has not yet lived up to her early promise, but if she decided to leave the mark smartly, there would not be many able to head her off. Admiral Lock will go solidly all the way, and this is what counts in such a field. Of those further back, Anselm will make a bold bid, and if there is any lagging in the front he will be knocking loudly at the box. Nella Dillon and Enawah.
