DIVORCED WIFE’S EXPENSES Press Association WANGANUI, To-day. A claim for £9 was made by the Hospital Board against H. W. Gillespie at the Magistrate's Court to-day in connection with the maintenance of Gillespie’s divorced wife. After hearing English and New Zealand cases quoted by counsel, Mr. J. H. Salmon. S.M., held that under the Destitute Persons’ Act, which provides that no person s. r T starve, and that the State, being absolved from liability, some party must be made liable, and gave judgment with costs against Gillespie.
