EVIDENCE ABOUT CURRENT MELBOURNE, Wednesday. At tho Marine Court inquiry into the loss of the Kanowan Joseph Kean, the third officer, said in evidence that there was a three to four-knot current running when the Kanovvna struck the rocks. Witness was asked whether, if that were so, the steamer Maekarra, which was not far away when the Kanowna struck, should not have found herself in the same plight. Witness replied: Yes, you would think so. The hearing was adjourned.
