TRANSPORT CONTROL

PERSONNEL OBJECTED TO

The chairman of the Waitemata County Council, Mr. A. M. Laing yesterday dispatched a telegram to the Minister of Labour, the Hon. W. A Veitch, expressing dissatisfaction with the proposed constitution and personnel of the Transport Advisory Council, and requesting a complete reconsideration. The telegram read:— Referring to the proposed constitution of the Transport Advisory Council and the personnel of the same, my council views with concern the proposed representation. Transport costs both capital and maintenance, are inseparably wrapped up in farmers’ and ratepayers’ annual costs. We think that primary producers and ratepayers are by no means adequately represented. We therefore ask for complete reconsideration of the personnel of the proposed council, and would be glad to receive a considered reply.”
