ELLERSLIE TRAINING

HYDE PARK’S LONG WORK 1 There were nut many horses galloped at Ellerslie this morning, and • consequently little interest was taken 1 in the proceedings. The- various tracks, more so the course proper (trestles 35 feet out) were popular, j but times in the majority of cases were slow. The Franklin Cup candidates, ' viz.. Gold Money, Eager Rose, Hyde 1 Park, Sir Archie, and The Lover, all got through serviceable tasks. Course Proper Salamander was the first to step on j to this track, and was asked to stride j over seven furlongs, recording 1.33 2-5. I Gold Money and Eager Rose were i again partnered in their gallop over j a mile, and travelling easily all j way, finished together in 1.49. Baby Bun led Fernden over six furlongs, but was not timed. Hyde Park went from winning post i to winning post, accompanied home over the last six furlongs by Modest Boy, the pair having little separating them at the end. Hyde Park finished nice and strongly to register 2.10 2-5, the last six furlongs in 1.23, and the final half-mile in 56 2-5. There was nothing meritorious in the gallop, but Hyde Park should lose no friends by his effort. ! Vallar travelled easily over half a j mile in 56, while Bennie and Lady j ! Suzanne, both on terms at the end, j | and hitting out strongly, recorded 52 12-5 for a similar task. I Moving smartly over the initial furlong in 12 4-5, Odin was checked over the last part of a six-furlong task, and finished up in 1.23 1-5. It should not be very long before this hurdler is enrolled a winner. Neil and the Quin Abbey—Mountain Dream filly, both in J. Buchanans stable, were sent half a mile, and after taking plenty of time to settle down to their task, were ridden out to take The Tan Sir Archie, Mon Star, and Kame hameha were associated over seven furlongs, but the last-named retired early, leaving Mon Star and Sir Archie to go on and finish together in 1.34 3-5. Mon Star has never given any ! particular promise, but she hung on 1 surprisingly well this morning. The Lover was restricted to pace j work.
