BANK-NOTE CLUE
THEFT OF CHEQUE FORM (From Our Own Correspondent / HAMILTON, To-day. Charges of forging a cheque for £lO at Matamata on October 23, and one for £l6 at Ngaruawaliia, were preferred against a young man, Frederick Thomas Kelly May, in the Magistrate's Court to-day. Percy Woods, farmer, of Waingaj-o Road, stated that accused worked for him. A cheque form was taken out of his book one day when in Hamilton. Six German mark notes he had possessed since the war were also taker. In reply to accused, witness said he could not prove accused broke into his house. He recognised the marks by the way in which they were folded. In a statement to the police accused denied the allegations. ll# pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial.
