MINERS STOP WORK
TROUBLE AT GREYMOUTH Press Association GREYMOUTH, Tuesday. The miner* ceased work to-d*y at both £he Dobson and Blackball mines. Through a shortage of trucks at Dobson, said to be due to a defective mine roadway which was closed last evening, three truckers were sent home. The union held a stop work meeting this afternoon and asked that the truckers be paid for their shift. It was decided that the afternoon shift should not go down until a settlement was- effected. At Blackball the dispute is due to the company’s refusal to recognise the turn system in taking on employees. This difference is likely to ba settled to-morrow. The Liverpool State miners, who have been losing much more time during the past 15 months than men at other mines, owing to lack of orders and other causes, are asking the Government for an inquiry as to the reason why State coal sales are not better. i
