UNITED FIRE BRIGADES OFFICERS ELECTED Press Association HOKITIKA, To-day. The United Fire Brigades’ Conference concluded this morning when Inspector Hugo delivered an jntexesting address which was ordered to be printed and distributed. Gold stars were presented to foul recipients: Fireman Stewart (Iselson), Fireman Hurren (Kumara), Fireman Leslie (Ashburton) and Fireman vitaglich (Westport). .. . The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Superintendent G. E. Gilbert (Onehunga): vice-presidents, Deputy- Superintendent Deere (Greymouth) and Superintendent C. w. Tvler (Rangiora). The retiring presi dent, Superintendent Freeman, was elected a life honorary member. Various complimentary motions were carried before tlie conference closed. The fireworks display last evening drew a large eoneuorse of people to Cass Square. This afternoon delegates are being taken to the dredge, and Will attend a public picnic at Lake Malunapua to-morrow.
