NATIONALIST WINS

PARRAMATTA BY-ELECTION SYDNEY. Saturday. The by-election to fill the vacancy in the Parramatta electorate, caused by the death of Mr. Bruntnell, Chief Secretary, resulted in the return of the Nationalist candidate, BrigadierGeneral H. W. Lloyd, who defeated Mr. Hooke (Labour) by 763 votes. This shows a swing of over 3,000 votes to Labour since the last election in 1927, when Mr. Bruntnell polled 9,236 votes, and his Labour opponent, Mr. A. C. Warton, 5,668 votes.
