PROBATION FOR YOUTH FORMED HABIT OF LAZINESS j ; Lack of control through the death ; of his father was said to be the cause ; of the misdemeanour of Wiliam James I Parrish, aged 19, who was admitted Ito probation in the Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Kennedy ; for theft from a dwelling. On prisoner’s behalf Mr. Bryce Hart | said Parrish had suffered because of ! his environment which had not been ! conducive to his welfare. His father died some years ago and deprived of • his control, he had developed the habit jof laziness. He took certain articles I of clothing from a Nortlicote house to | augment his scanty wardrobe, in view ■ of the fact that he was shortly to go ! to a job with a local body. To prisoner, his Honour said the | Legislature regarded the offence as a j very serious one, but in view of the ! recommendation of the probation offi- | cer he would grant probation for three ; years. “You must strive,” said the j Judge, “to lighten the burden your \ mother has to bear as a result of your
