SHANTUNG REVOLT OVER
NATIONALIST VICTORY MORE TROUBLE AHEAD? (Australian and (V. 7.. Press Association) Reed. 9.55 a.m. SHANGHAI, Sunday. The Shantung revolt is reported to have been temporarily suppressed, victory favouring the Nationalists. Cheefoo, the rebels’ objective, is now quiet. Gener'al Chang Chung-Chang, erstwhile Governor of Shantung, Is believed to be personally stationed close to the scene of the recent hostilities, causing well-informed circles to believe that the uprising has not been permanently quashed. British, American and Japanese warships are continuing to stand by Cheefoo for the protection of nationals.
