WINTER SHOW PROPOSALS PRELIMINARY ARRANGEMENTS The secretary of the Auckland Agricultural ana Pastoral Association .Vi:. W. F. o’JJurinell was present at me meeting of the executive of the Auckland Provincial fruit Growers’ Council this morning, when preliminary matters in connection with the proposed exhibit of fruit at the Winter h'xhibition were discussed.

Mr. O'Donnell, referring to the contusion which resulted last year, said •here were three classes of fruit namely, a special class, an ordinary .Ass and an exhibition class. Cases were sent in without proper addresses and consequently were all put together’ yuite a number of people had stuff for exhibition purposes which never armed at the exhibition. This year Mr u'Donneli said the A. and P. Association proposed taking complete control of all classes, though still leaving the exhibition stuff tu be dealt with by the Fruitgrowers' Council. This class will iw marked specially so that there should be no repetition of last year’s confusion.

The public, he said, Mould appreciate a much more comprehenaire showing by the Fruitgrowers' council at the Winter Exhibition. The chairman, Mr. W. S. Howse. thought it an extraordinary thing that with the big fruintgrowing industry of the Auckland Province a better ' off than last season could not be put up.

Mr. O'Donnell: The general public does not believe that you can grow quality fruit in Auckland. Mr. G. A. Green: If we took an exhibit of fruit to Xelson we would wipe them up. We did it at Dunedin. But :ve want 41.50—n0t a penny less to Enance a better exhibit. Oh the motion of the chairman, it was decided to make representations to the Fruit Growers' Federation, the limit brokers and to the retail fruiterers for donations toward the expense of the exhibit.
