GIRL FROZEN TO DEATH

CLOTHES STREWN ABOUT FOUND IN SURREY FIELD (Australian and N.Z. Press Association), LONDON, Friday. A sad discovery was made at Titsey. near Reigate, on the border of Kent and Surrey. The unclothed body of a girl was discovered in an isolated field frozen to the ground. Her garments were scattered near the body. A description of the girl was broadcast and this led to her identification as Annie Pauline Goldsmith, aged 23, of West Croydon. Scotland Yard detectives were called in and the case was at first thought to be one of murder, but an alternative theory is that the girl was a victim of religious dementia, and that she herself scattered her clothing in the field, became exhausted and died from exposure and shock. A badge and a card bearing texts were found in her clothing.
