“FLEETS IN” AT BRITANNIA
Typical of the American Navy and of San Francisco’s dance hall life is the film “The Fleet’s In,” starring Clara Bow, now at the Britannia Theatre. There is no plot to speak of, but this omission has been more than compensated for by a succession of incidents productive of hearty laughter.
The story tells of the shore exploits of two sailors who find their pleasure in a riotous dance hall. Here Peachy rules with her charm, but Eddie Briggs, who becomes enamoured of the niLich- sought-after girl, is spurned for many others with ready pockets. How he finally wins his way into her favour provides a theme with many humorous possibilities, and no opportunity has been lost to make the film one of the most enjoyable of comedies produced for a long time. “The Adventurer,” the second feature, stars Tim McCoy in an exciting South American story.
