BIG CITY BUILDING
LEASED BY HART BROTHERS. LTD. NEW HIGH STREET PREMISES One of the best-known of the larger city buildings will shortly have a change ef occupiers. Hart Brothers, Ltd., has acquired a lease of the premises in High Street lately occupied by L. D. Nathan, Ltd. The Elliott Street premises of Hart Brothers will be vacated within six months and the new premises in High Street will be opened. The new premises have a frontage of 72ft and a depth of 90ft. there being nine storeys in all. The building will be remodelled. £20.000 will be spent in converting it into an open warehouse. It is stated every success has attended the present open warehouse in Elliott Street, and the principal. Mr. B. Hart, is confident the new premises, which are close to the business centre of the city, will mean increased busij ness. Plans for remodelling have been completed by the architect, Nlr. R. B. Young, and it is expected that the completed building will be the most up-to-date warehouse in New Zealand or Australia. One of the principal features is an imposing entrance, while the basement will be devoted to a mail order department. The building will be made into a modern, open warehouse. Reading and writing rooms for the public will be installed, there will be a. "cash and carry”, grocery department, and a modern tearoom. Passenger lifts will be installed. It is anticipated that the work of remodelling will begin shortly.
