death of chief justice s MESSAGE DELAYED !* Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, announces that he received a cablegram from Captain Ferris, of the steamer Port Denison, hist, evening, reporting the death of Sir .Charles Skerrett. The cable was dated February 13, to be dispatched by radio to the Chatham Islands, via the radio of the s.s. Rua.hint*. Apparently the delay in the cable reaching here has been caused by the time taken by the Kuahine getting into wireless touch, with the Chatham??. Sir Joseph Ward says he give's this Information to the Press in fairness to Captain Ferris, who evidently sent the cable shortly after the death of Sir Charles Skerrett.
