CLAIM FOR EXEMPTION MINISTER FAVOURABLE (From Our Resident Reporter) WELLINGTON, To-day. That ho was prepared to propose when the Juries Act comes up f<* review, to make provision for the e* emption of commercial travellers from service on juries, was the reply givea by the Minister of Justice, the Hon. T. M. Wilford, to a deputation. The Minister asked the associated what was its definition of a "bona fids commercial traveller,” and Mr. W. R Herrick, secretary, replied that a “boni fide commercial traveller is a traveller engaged in doing solely wholesale business, that is (a) selling to the trade for some person, firm of company, or (b) buying for some person, firm of company carrying on a wholesale business, and who has be® so engaged for a period of at least sis consecutive calendar months, which period shall have been spent in tin Commonwealth of Australia or in New Zealand.” The Minister said the association would have to understand that tfia amendments proposed in that Act most be considered and approved by the Cabinet before any definite assurance could be given them. In the mean* time, however, lie, as Minister of Justice, favourably considered the appfi* cation.
