HELPING UNEMPLOYED

GREY LYNN M.P’S MOVE PRIME MINISTER’S PROMISE Some definite proposals of an economic nature to help in the solution of the unemployed problem were placed, before the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, by Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P. for Grey Lynn. Mr. Fletcher returned to Auckland this morning from Wellington and said that after his interview with Sir Joseph he was assured that they would have the Prime Minister's immediate consideration. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, who accompanied Mr. Fletcher, also placed before the Prime Minister certain aspects of the land settlement policy with regard to the employment for boys. Mr. Fletcher urged the calling of the conference of the apprentices committees. This Sir Joseph promised to discuss with the Minister of Labour, the Hon. W. Veitch. The deputation was informed of steps taken by the Government, the nature of which the Prime Minister will announce shortly.
