A serious breakdown of the Southland Electric-Power Board services occurred suddenly before eight o’clock last night, when light and power were out off until 9.30 o’clock. Trams in Invercargill were at a standstill and theatres were in darkness untij stand- . y plants and candles were brought into use.—P.A.
