ABANDONED HER BABY
YOUNG WOMAN FOR SENTENCE (Special to THE SUNJ mNEDIDJ, Wednesday, Wrapped in a blanket, a baby girl was found lying at a back gate in Anderson’s Bay Road a few days ago. In the Police Court to-day, Caroline Hislop, a young woman, pleaded guilty to abandoning her child. Mary Jane Clark, a married woman, said that she heard a baby crying and on opening her gate found a baby lying just outside. She took it inside and fed it, and then notified the police. Sister Christianson, of the Salvation Army maternity home, said that on January 26 accused came to the home, and two days later gave birth to a female child. She remained in the home till February 13, when she left with her baby, saying she was going to some friends. To Detective-Sergeant Nuttall accused admitted that she had left the home with the child on th© evening of February 13, and left the child at Mrs. Clark’s back gate. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court-for sentence. She was released on bail, conditional on remaining with the Salvation Army authorities.
