TABLEAUX AND PLAYS

METHODIST SCHOOLS ENTERTAIN ANNUAL DEMONSTRATION A crowded audience at the Town Hall gave an excellent reception to the children of the Auckland Methodist Sunday Schools and Young People's Societies who staged their annual demonstration last evening. Mr. J. W. Shackleford, vice-president of the Methodist Conference, introduced the children who, he said, had worked hard to prepare an excellent programme. It was mentioned that 11,000,000 c hildren attended Methodist Sunday Schools throughout the world. Items given by the youthful performers included bible plays, tableaux and dialogues and illustrated the work done in the schools from cradle roll to Christian leadership. The children’s names are put on the rolls from birth and from then they pass through th© various departments of the schools until ready to play a more important part in, perhaps, an administrative capacity.
