6,000 MAORIS TO MEET

OPENING OF NEW HOSTEL CEREMONY AT NGARUAWAHIA (From Our Owr Correspondent) NGARUAWAHIA, To-day. Native tribes from all over New Zealand will assemble at Ngaruawahia from March 10 to 18 for the ' opening of the new Maori hostel. Proceedings will commence on Sunday. March 10. Tribes from the Far North, the South Island, and extreme Hast will arrive on March 15. The next day, Saturday, many of the assembled Maoris will take part in tho Xgaruawahia regatta. Two large canoes are being brought from the Wanganui River, and there will be an exhibition of war dances by -00 Maori On Sunday a church service will be held, the preacher being the Bishop of Aotearoa. On the Monday morning, March IS, the Right Hon. J. G. Coates will open the Maori hostel, and the afternoon will be devoted to a reception of pakeha friends. Preparations are now in progress for the housing and entertainment of about 6,000 Maori visitors, under the direction of Mr. Balneavis. Three large steam boilers are being prepared for cooking tho vast quantity of food required, and there will be three dining Hrooms, each 80ft long. The Princess Tc Pura llcrangi a general invitation to all her friends.
