’Flu Doctor Dead The death is reported from Christchurch of Dr. Edward Jennings. He became prominent for his work during the influenza epidemic in 1918 in Auckland. At one time he took an active interest in Rugby administration in Christchurch. —P.A. B.M.A. Visitors Various sections of the medical conference sat this morning. This afternoon visitors are the guests, at lleretaunga, of the members of the Wellington division of the 8.M.A.. and their wives.—P.A. * * * Railwaymen and Mariners After a paper had been read at the Medical Conference yesterday by Sir J. W. Barrett, of Melbourne, on visual standards in railwaymen and mariners, it was unanimously resolved that the present standard should be maintained, and that lowering it would be dangerous on account of the increasing speed of steamers. —P.A. * * * Mishap on Scow While working on a scow at Nelson Wharf yesterday afternoon Mr. M. Crawford, aged 47, of 10 Franklin Road, Ponsonby, was struck by a sling of cement. His left leg was fractured and he was conveyed by the St. John Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where he is reported to be making satisfactory progress. * * * Cyclist’s Leg Broken A fractured right leg was suffered by Mr. Frank Burgess, of Michael’s Avenue, Ellerslie, when he was knocked off his bicycle by a motor-oar cn the Great North Road. Avondale. last evening. The St. John Ambulance took him to the Auckland Hospital and he is progressing satisfactor.ly.
