RUBBISH TO BE DUMPED

MT. ROSKILUS DECISION INCINERATOR PROPOSED The dispute between the Mount Ros--Icm Road Board and the Onehunga Borough Council. over the latter’s charges for burning household refuse, led the board at its meeting last evening to decide upon reverting to its former practice of dumping. A deep depression abutting on Halsey Drive has been selected as tho site, and the sanction of the health officer is to bo sought for its establishment. * It was explained by Mr. S. I. Goodall that the proposed dump was merely a temporary expedient, and ho hoped that in the near future a fund would be established for the installation of an incinerator for the district. Mr. G. E. Tansley, a former chairman of the board, said that the practice of dumping refuse was a menace to public health, and had in the past caused constant friction between the board and the Medical Officer of Health. He urged that immediate steps should be taken to obtain information as to the cost of an incinerator. It was finally decided that a subcommittee consisting of the chairman, Air. E. F. Jones, Messrs. G. E. Tansley and E. A. Pearce, should interview the District Medical Officer of Health nd obtain the necessary information regarding the cost of an incinerator, and in the meantime to obtain permission to dispose of the refuse on the Halsey Drive site.
