BEST DOMINION DISPLAY AT EMPIRE SHOW BIG CONTRACT RESULTS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and X.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.49 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The most notable feature of the Empire Exhibition at the White City is the continued dominance of Canada, compared with the other Dominions. Last year Canada did not participate in the Marketing Board’s offer to finance all the Dominions’ exhibits, because she preferred an independent display. This year Canada participates equally with the other Dominoas at the cost of the Marketing Board. Nevertheless she insists on an independent supplementary display at her owp expense, amounting to five times that of Australia and New Zealand combined. While each Dominion, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand, receives 600 Square feet of free space, Canada spends £7,000 on an additional 5,000 square feet for a separate court, in which are exhibits of Canadian manufacturers not included under the Marketing Board’s regulations, which restrict its activities to products. Furthermore, Canada is the only Dominion participating in the Birmingham section of the British Industries’ Exhibition, which is restricted to Empire machinery, in which neither Australia nor New Zealand compete. One result of Canada’s enterprise is that within 20 minutes an order was placed by a British firm for £IO,OOO worth of Canadian honey. Australia’s and New Zealand’s exhibits are excellent. They duplicated last year’s, notably in agricultural, pastoral, dairy and viticultural products.
