MOTORCYCLE RACES
GOOD ENTRIES FOR TAKAPUNA All the foremost motor-cycle speedsters in the Dominion will compete on the Takapuna Racecourse at | the Auckland Motor Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. March - Entries have already been reunited from P. Coleman, the New Zealand i champion, and from D. Mauagh. .1. j Morgan. C. Goodwin. B. Bray and R. Ranley. AY. Allan, who holds the Australian one-hour grass track record, will also appear. ■\V. Herbert, a popular rider who is at. present making a name for himself on Australian tracks, has cabled his name as a contestant for the New Zealand Middle-weight Championship, which will he one of the attractions at Takapuna. In addition to these veteran riders, a host of young enthusiasts will compete and some bright racing should be witnessed. AIRPLANE v. MOTOR-CYCLE One of the features of these races will be the challenge race between the Avro-Avian airplane and the fastest rider of the day. The race will toe under the usual conditions —that | is, a circuit of the racecourse —and j should be very keenly fought. | Such a contest has been held in New Zealand only once before —at j Christchurch a few years ago—and jon that occasion the motor-cycle. ! ridden by a young man named Crow- | ley, was the winner. | Rumours have recently been heard | to the effect that the Chrysler factory | was abandoning the production of the ; four-cylinder Chrysler-Plymouth car. | “Headlight” lias been assured by the i Todd Motor Company, New Zealand | distributors for Chrysler, that these rumours are quite incorrect, and that the Chrysler Corporatidn will con- : tinue to produce the Plymouth car as ! a four-cylinder automobile.
