TE KLiTI CHAMBER In order to sustain its work, t sug- , gestion was made a: the monthly > meeting of the To Kuiti Chamoer oL Commerce by Mr. J. I>- Vernon that a luncheon club be formed. This would enable people passing through To Kuiti to give addresses to members and afford an opportunity to local business . men of meeting visitors. A subcommittee was set up to go into the j question and report at next meeting. The Auekland Chamber of Com- j merce wrote stating that the recent j commerce train had been a great sue- j cess. A suggestion as an outcome of the trip was that a conference might be called. presumably at Auckland, between those who took part in the trip and representatives of the country ■ chambers of commerce in the rrovin- j cial district. A resolution in support j of the proposal was passed. The Taihape Chamber of Commerce drew attention to the fact that itinerant auctioneers should not be » xempt from paying fees to the local body in whose territory they were trading. Messrs. Allison, Mason and Vernon were appointed to go into the question for the purpose of passing an | opinion at a subsequent meeting. | The King Country Advancement ' I League forwarded a copy of its constitution, and it was decided that the : chamber link up with that body. A lengthy discussion ensued on the ragwort menace. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., contended that the only solution of that problem was wrapped , up in closer settlement. It was decided that the Lands Committee be approached with the idea of getting it to formulate some scheme for the treatment of ragwort. Regarding the formation of an air port at Te Kuiti, the president re- : ported that as far as the racecourse j was concerned no progress liad been j made. Mr. Cochrane, on behalf of the | Racing Club, replied that lie thought ; if the sum previously offered the club j were repeated, that body might put j the ground in. order as a landing j ground.
