Other shares in the banking group are uuiet. Xew Zealands are very firm with holders at 63s 6d. supported by buyers at 635. In the shipping group. Northern ShMin.s. hold their increased strength of last week with sellers now asking 3d above par at 14s 9d. Steady buyers tire in at last week’s market price. Buyers of Huddarts withdrew this morning with sellers weaker at 48s. Several factors are operating to cause this trend. The directors have announced
a interim dividend at the rate of 5 i*< r cent, compared with 7 per cent. >. r the corresponding: period of last y«ar. There is also the loss experienced by the company on the Australian coast during the week-end. In the miscellaneous section one of t ie principal features of interest is the increasing attention being paid to :-iiares as Tonson Garlicks, Sharia nds and others which have been more or less neglected for a considerable period, indicating increasing faith in the industrial future of the country.
