FOR THE PLAYGROUND
You have all played hopscotch, I am sure. It’s such a favourite game. Now I am going to tell you all about a game that is quite new, though it is something like hopscotch. First of all you chalk six circles in a straight line, each one just touching the last. The players—any number can join in—take a turn to play. First of all they throw their cap into the first circle, then they hop into this circle, and, while still on one leg, bend down and pick up the cap, then throw it into the third circle, hop into the second, then into the third; here pick up the cap, next throw it into the sixth circle, and hop on to the fourth, fifth and sixth, stooping to pick up the cup in this last circle, and then hop right out of the circles altogether. Remember that you must keep on the one leg all the time. Each player takes his turn to do this, but he must fall out if he puts the second foot to the ground. Having hopped right along the six circles, you start all over again, this time hopping, not only right along the circles the one way, but also continuing all the way back without putting the foot to the ground. Afterwards you can play hopping on the left leg only! You’ll get good fun out of this game, I can assure you.
