GRAND SHOWS “MOULIN ROUGE”
The fine British production. “Moulin Rouge,” is the big attraction at the Grand Theatre this evening. The picture is a compelling anc'l nerve-tingling story of Paris and its night life with one of the most remarkable personalities on the Continental stage as the star. Olga Tschechowa is the idol of millions of playgoers throughout Europe. Renowned for her many leading roles in musical comedy’ and revue, and with considerable* film experience, she was the ideal choice for the part of the star in the famous Parisian cabaret show. Miss Tschechowa appears as Parvsia. the star of the “Paris-New York” revue at the Moulin Rouge Paris, whose daughter Camille, together with her fiance, visit the show for the purpose of introducing Marcel to her mother. The boy becomes infatuated with the mother's charm, and falls desperately in love with her. An excellent supporting programme will also be presented The next Esther Ralston starring production for release in New Zealand is “The Case of Lena Smith.” which is now nearing completion at Puraruount’s Hollywood studios. There will bo a silent version only. “Interference.” ihe first all-talking picture to be produced by any motion picture company, is now in Australia. No definite release date is as yet announced. “Interference” is a Paramount production featuring Evelyn Brent. Doris Kenyon. Clive Brooks and W llliam Powell. The direction was d«me by Paramount’s director of sound * ffects, Roy Pomeroy.
