COMPLAINT BY BOY

MAN FOUND NOT GUILTY Walter- Joseph Brophy, a single man aged 34, was arraigned in the Supreme Court yesterday before Mr. Justice Kennedy and a jury on a charge of indecently assaulting a boy of 14 in Point Erin Park during January. Mr. V. R. Meredith prosecuted, and Mr. Allan Moody defended prisoner. Summing up, his Honour said that cross-examination had destroyed the boy’s evidence. The Judge warned the jury that it would be dangerous to convict and suggested a verdict of not guilty. This was accordingly returned by the jury after a brief retirement.
